Little Red School House Program & Curriculum

Studies have shown that early childhood education programs, including preschool and kindergarten, offer numerous advantages for young children. Here at Little Red School House, our program provides a structured and supportive learning environment that can have a lasting impact on your child’s development. We offer a wide range of activities and learning opportunities that cultivate children’s self-confidence, academic progress, and prepare them for a bright future.

Our unique and carefully curated curriculum fosters children’s cognitive and intellectual development. We have a strong emphasis on academics which helps children build a solid educational foundation. We begin each day with our oral review, teaching the children phonics, numbers, colors, shapes, memory words, and much more. When developmentally appropriate, we will place children in small groups, introducing them to reading and comprehension skills. In addition, each classroom will focus on specific units of study that will introduce new concepts and test their analytical skills. Alongside the oral review, we also teach the children Spanish and Sign Language daily. By introducing children to new languages, they are able to improve listening and memory skills, expand their vocabulary, and engage in conversations with classmates.

Little Red School House also supports children’s social/emotional development. The structured nature of our program helps children learn rules, follow directions, and familiarize themselves with a routine. Group settings help children learn how to share, communicate with their teachers and peers, and cooperate with others. We strive to build a sense of community not only within each classroom, but throughout the entire facility, showing children the importance of creating meaningful relationships.

In addition to the academic component of our program, we also encourage children’s autonomy and self-confidence. Although the majority of the activities presented are in a group setting, we offer children the opportunity for solitary work and play where they can develop a sense of independence. Coloring, cutting, and handwriting practice offers opportunities for children to gain a sense of confidence in their abilities. Art, movement, and music are other means by which children are able to express themselves and feel proud of their accomplishments.
